JobServe anyhow, anywhere

As I mentioned in a previous post, I work for JobServe.com (usual disclaimer that my views do not reflect the views of my organisation yada yada…) as an R&D developer.  Over the course of the past three to four months, we’ve been making a huge investment in various technologies – especially WCF – in order to expand our offering across more platforms than simply the web browser.

Some of what has been learned in this process can be found on this blog (with more to come) and also on our R&D portal – JobServe Labs.

Most recently, we have just released our iPhone Job Search app, which has become a huge success with thousands of people already.  Entitled “JobServe Connect – Job Search” this heralds just the start of job search apps for many platforms – as well as the start of many different types of apps, some for job seekers and some for job posters.

We’d already begun this process with our desktop gadgets (one for Windows Desktop Sidebar and one for Google Desktop Sidebar) – and now that we have our web service platform in place, expanding the offerings is simply a case of writing the individual apps.

I would love to hear what you think of all this activity from us – we’re trying to reach out to everybody out there in a way that no other job board has ever done; so much so that we’re asking you, the user, to tell us what you think the next job search platform should be.

So far we’ve had various requests – Blackberry, Palm, Windows Mobile, Nokia etc.

Just a leave a comment on this page (the comments are moderated, due to aforementioned comment spam, so please bear with me!) saying on which platform you’d like to see the next app appear; and we’ll endeavour to make it the next one that we do.
